The McLaren Hospice Program is a special kind of care designated to provide support and comfort for people in the final phase of a terminal illness. Our hospice team provides services to meet the physical, spiritual, psychological, social and emotional needs of each patient and their family. Hospice Patient Support Volunteers are highly valued by both staff & patient families and are critical to providing quality hospice services. We strive to enable patient's to carry on a pain free life and to manage other symptoms so that the last days with family and friends may be spent with a much dignity and quality of life as possible.

McLaren Hospice is looking for dedicated individuals who would like to make a difference in the lives of patients that are being faced with advanced illness. Training is provided and no medical knowledge is necessary.

Services may include:

Friendly visits with patient and/or family
Listening to patients reminisce about their past & life reflection
Reading to a patient
Respite support for caregiver by sitting with patient while family takes a break
Assisting with running errands, letter writing
Additionally, we are looking for volunteers with special talents such as: trained pet therapy dogs, crafting, cosmetology, massage, music, veteran experience, etc.
